Mom Gracie and daughter Norah, seen here in a photo from April 1, 2018, are cows, but they’re considered pets, said John Belleville of De Soto.
The photo shows the cows in a field on the Belleville family farm.
“The family treats them as pets,” Belleville said. “They will feed them apples and molasses cubes. They’ll stand there and let you pet them.”
Gracie is 7 and Norah is 1 ½.
“They’re 50-percent Angus, 25-percent Hereford and 25-percent Brahman,” Belleville said.
He said his family generally keeps a herd of about 20 cows.
“Right now, we have 23,” Belleville said. “We breed them to sell for breeding stock.”
PET SPOT invites readers to tell a story about their pets or nonprofit animal adoption agencies to write about an adoptable pet and submit it, plus an attached photo, to nvrweakly@aol.com.
