Lindsay Recar said the stray cat she took in has brought joy to her family’s Festus-area home.
She said she named the cat Cheddar because of his orange color.
“We got him about a year and a half ago,” Recar said. “There was an old woman who lived across the street who left out food for stray cats. When she died, we took in Cheddar.”
Recar said she can only guess at Cheddar’s background.
“We think he could be 5 to 8 years old,” she said. “We don’t know the breed.”
Cheddar demands attention, Recar said.
“He’s very snuggly,” she said. “He’ll lay down in my lap. He’ll lay there as long as you let him. He does not want to get up.
“We enjoy having him around. He’s aggressively affectionate.”
When he’s not cuddling with Recar, Cheddar likes to explore, she said.
“Sometimes, he climbs up on weird spots.”
