This is my 1-year-old Cat Fanciers Association champion champagne mink Tonkinese cat, Thelonius Monk, looking rather busy. I took the photo in May. Thelonius taught himself to use a toilet, much to our surprise.
My husband and I had been accusing each other of not flushing the toilet until one morning when my husband was getting out of the shower and I was getting in and we saw Thelonius ran into the bathroom and use the toilet. Mystery solved.
Thelonius doesn’t use a litter box at all. If the loo is occupied, he will meow and pace until it’s his turn. He’s taught one of our other cats to use the toilet, too, although she doesn’t always use it like Thelonius does.
We’re a cattery. It’s comparable to a dog kennel. We breed and show Tonkinese cats. Thelonius is our chief stud for our cattery. He’s given us two beautiful litters.
