Caren Evans of Festus submitted this holiday-season photo of her cat, Callie, shown relaxing among presents under the family Christmas tree.
“She used to climb trees,” Evans said. “Thank goodness she doesn’t climb the tree anymore! She’s too old now. She sleeps with the presents. She also weighs 15 pounds.”
Callie, a Calico cat who’s at least 10 years old, is a valuable member of the family. Evans said.
“We have two kids with autism. They’re adults now,” Evans said. “Callie is like a therapeutic pet for them. She’s not trained, but, if they’re having a rough time, she stays with whichever one is having the rough time.
“We feel blessed to have her.”
