In this March 2011 photo, Charley, a 10-yer-old female cat, checks out the plants in the basement at Louise and Joe Boyer’s home in Festus. Charley was 3 at the time the photo was taken.
“My husband had a greenhouse in our basement,” Louise Boyer said. “She was just being nosy.”
Charley is a rescue pet from Belleville and the Boyers do not know what breed or mixture she is.
“She’s just a cat,” Boyer said. “I got her and her sister from a shelter. She’s a good girl. She’s my buddy. She’s very laid back.
“She just wants to eat and sleep and lie around. She’s a senior citizen now.”
Her sister is Mimi.
“She gets along with her sister,” Boyer said. “They’re from the same litter.”
