Dave Boyer's blue heeler, Bel Air

Dave Boyer of Festus says his blue heeler, Bel Air, loves to pay keep-away.

I took this photo of Bel Air, 1 at the time, in the summer of 2012, using a timer and a tripod, while playing with him in our yard. He seems to be saying, “You want to play some more, Dad?”

He’s 3 1/2 now. He’s a blue heeler – a type of Australian cattle dog. They have a little dingo in them.

Bel Air is a rowdy little character. He loves to play, and he’s very outgoing. He also makes a good watchdog.

A lot of dogs will fetch, but he likes to play keep-away. He wants you to get whatever he’s got, whether it’s a Frisbee or a ball, from him.

He’s pretty smart. He’ll sit. You can holler, “Squirrel,” and he’ll point those ears up and go looking for the squirrel.

He’s real good playing with our granddaughters. He loves lots of attention and love.
