Taylor Menteer sent in this photo of her family's chicken, Dolly.

Taylor Menteer said Dolly, a Cochin chicken, is an eye-catching bird, even among the flock of chickens on her family’s Pevely-area farm.

“I have 16 total chickens,” Menteer said. “She does stand out. She seems to be the most comfortable with other people. She likes to be held. She likes to eat out of my hand.”

Menteer said she admires Dolly’s look.

“I just like her color pattern,” she said. “I think it’s amazing.”

Menteer said the farm is home to a variety of animals.

“We have fish, some dogs, a goat, a duck and the chickens,” she said.

The family makes good use of what the animals produce, Menteer said.

“We get fresh eggs, goat milk,” she said.
