Ringing in the new year with family and friends is always a good time to try out some new snacks and appetizers. It’s great to serve the old standbys when you’re holding a get-together, but once in awhile it’s nice to add something new, giving your guests a pleasant surprise.

These Tortilla Rolls are a tasty and sweet treat that will complement the salty chips and dips and crackers and cheese you’re likely to also be serving. The trace of honey combined with the crushed pineapple give these roll ups a unique taste your guests will surely love.

And, what better way is there to start the new year than with good food and good friends?

HONEY HAM TORTILLA ROLLS

4 1/2 ounces of thin sliced deli honey ham or 1 (4 1/2 ounces honey ham spread)

1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese (softened)

1/4 cup crushed pineapple, well drained

2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions

1 teaspoon honey

4 (8-inch) flour tortillas

With mixer or food processor, blend ham and cream cheese together until smooth. Stir in onion, crushed pineapple and honey. Spread about 1/4 cup of the mix on each tortilla to within a half-inch of edge. Roll each tortilla, starting at the edge, in plastic wrap. Refrigerate 2-8 hours. Cut each roll into 1-inch pieces. Makes 8 servings.

Note: The pieces can be dipped in a honey mustard sauce if desired. To make the sauce, combine 6 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1/4 cup mustard and 2 tablespoons honey.
