With children home from school for summer vacation, fixing something new for both dinner and lunch can be a challenge, especially if you have picky eaters. However, if you combine two favorites – pizza and cheeseburgers – you’re likely to please everyone.
This recipe for Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza really is the best of both worlds in a single pan. The combination of the two cheeses, along with the crispy bacon, is the secret to this irresistible pizza.
I highly recommend serving slices of this with a few dill pickles on the side, not only for presentation, but most kids love pickles. And what is a cheeseburger without pickles?
BACON CHEESEBURGER PIZZA
1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
8 ounces ground beef
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 cup pizza sauce
1 (12-inch) round pizza crust, baked
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) mozzarella cheese
6 slices crispy cooked bacon, crumbled
Dill pickles (optional)
Heat oven to 400 degrees. In 8-inch skillet over medium high heat, cook onion, ground beef and pepper until meat is no longer pink (8 -12 minutes); drain. Add pizza sauce; reduce heat to low. Continue cooking 5 minutes.
Place baked pizza crust on 12-inch pizza pan or cookie sheet. Top crust with ground beef mixture, cheeses and bacon. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with dill pickles. Makes 6 servings.
