Students at Fox High School will have to find another after-school hangout.
The Burger King restaurant on Jeffco Boulevard just south of the Fox schools campus closed on April 28 after 21 years at that site.
Joel Neikirk, operations manager for Midamerica Hotels Corp., which owns the restaurant, said the company plans to sell or lease the property.
Neikirk said the company, which owns dozens of other Burger Kings in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas, closed the Arnold restaurant because of economic reasons.
“We had a 20-year franchise agreement and based on economic conditions, we decided we couldn’t renew that licence,” he said. “The requirements to renew weren’t in line with what was happening there economically.”
Neikirk said most of the employees at the restaurant were able to transfer to one of the company’s other Burger Kings.
It also runs the Burger King at Vogel and the West Outer Road in Arnold, as well as a store in Oakville.
Northwest Development Co., a subsidiary of Midamerica Hotels Corp., operated the restaurant.
The Drury family, which owns and operates Drury Inns across the region, started Midamercia Hotels Corp., which later branched out to include other ventures.
