Two area teachers were named by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as 2017-18 Regional Teachers of the Year as part of the Missouri Teacher of the Year program.
Tracy Brosch, who teaches agriculture and writing at Sunrise Elementary in the Sunrise R-9 District, and Katie LaMar, who teaches first grade at Athena Elementary in the De Soto School District, were among 32 teachers selected from all over the state. The two are now eligible for the state Teacher of the Year Award.
The Regional Teacher of the Year process began last year in an effort to celebrate outstanding teachers from more areas around the state. The Missouri Teacher of the Year for 2017-18 will be selected in August.
