Robert and Stephanie DeRousse of De Soto shared a winning moment when they realized they had snagged the top prize in the “$100,000 Fortune” Scratchers Game, according to Missouri Lottery officials.
Stephanie DeRousse said the couple bought two tickets at Papin Pit Stop at 3201 Papin Road, in De Soto April 9.
“We usually buy two tickets, and then he’ll take one, and I’ll take one,” she said. “He usually just scratches the numbers first and the prizes second. He saw the first one (prize) and scratched the second one, and the same thing. Then he went to the very last prize to see how much it was, and it was the same thing. We found out all 20 of them had won.”
The total prize was $100,000.
Stephanie DeRousse, 36, a part-time bus driver and part-time school aide, said she and her husband, who works for the railroad, have already made decisions about how they will spend the money, paying some bills and then making a couple of specific purchases.
“A washer and dryer: I’m excited for that,” she said. “And he wants a boat.”
The $100,000 Fortune games scratchers tickets cost $5 each. The game began April 14, 2014, and the DeRousses claimed the last prize because the game is no longer being distributed, since all of the top prizes have now been claimed, Missouri Lottery officials said.
