Top-rated javelin thrower Brittany Borman, a Festus High School graduate, is scheduled to compete in the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federations Sainsbury Anniversary Games taking place Friday through Sunday, July 26-28, in London.

Borman made the U.S. Olympic team in 2012 and competed in that year’s Summer Olympics in London. She is ranked No. 1 in the U.S. in women’s javelin and in the top 20 in the world in the event.

She is preparing to compete for a place on the U.S. squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Borman, her family and friends plan to kick off the Brittany Borman Foundation with a celebrity dinner, 5K run and golf tournament the weekend of Sept. 13-14 in and around Festus. Organizers say the foundation will raise money for local community betterment groups and to assist Borman with training expenses as she prepares for another run at the Olympics.
