The Mercy hospital system, which includes Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, began allowing each patient two visitors at a time starting June 21. Mercy previously limited patients to one visitor due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We understand the hardship visitor restrictions create for our patients, their families and loved ones, and for our own co-workers,” said Steve Mackin, Mercy vice president and Mercy Hospital St. Louis president. “We are thrilled to relax these restrictions as the transmission rate of COVID-19 decreases.”
Everyone who enters a Mercy hospital must continue to wear a mask.
Mercy also no longer requires a COVID-19 test for most vaccinated patients prior to undergoing a procedure. However, any patient who is not vaccinated or who is vaccinated but shows symptoms or has been exposed to COVID-19 in their household must undergo a COVID test before a procedure.
