Jefferson College has scheduled two clinics to dispense vaccinations against COVID-19.
The Viking Vaccine clinics will be open to students and staff, and the general public.
They will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 24-25.
The Aug. 24 clinic will be held in Room 323 at the Arnold campus, 1687 Missouri State Road. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 4-6 p.m.
The Aug. 25 clinic will be held in the Viking Room of the Student Center at the Hillsboro campus, 1000 Viking Drive. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
While the COVID-19 shots are the focus, the events will also offer participants free T-shirts, swag, an ice cream treat or coffee drink, cookies, soda and water. Raffles will be held to win gift cards, technology and other items.
The free items also are for those previously vaccinated who show proof of COVID vaccination.
“Bring your insurance information,” said Roger Barrentine, Jefferson College director of public relations and marketing. “It’s the Moderna vaccine. It’s two shots. The second one will be given at clinics on dates to be determined.”
He said the Aug. 24-25 clinics are for people ages 18 and older.
“We would like to see at least 100 individuals vaccinated by the end of the two days at the two sites,” Barrentine said.
The intent of the clinics is to protect the college community and overall community, he said.
“Our students, faculty and staff have been incredibly supportive of our protocols put in place during the last academic year,” Barrentine said. “We are hopeful that many either already are or soon will be fully vaccinated and that we can safely enjoy the coming school year.”
The Medicine Shoppe of De Soto is providing the COVID vaccinations.
