The eighth annual Frank Wilcox Film Festival, scheduled for this Saturday, March 21, in De Soto, has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Event organizer Jim Thomas announced the postponement on Friday. The special guest at this year’s festival is slated to be television and movie actor Morgan Fairchild, best known for roles on several prime-time TV soap operas of the 1980s and 1990s, such as “Dallas” and “Falcon Crest.”

“We made the call to reschedule and Morgan graciously agreed,” Thomas said in an email. “We’re looking at late May for a new date.”

He added that ticket sales, at $100 apiece for “An Evening With Morgan Fairchild” dinner at the De Soto Knights of Columbus Hall, 13225 Hwy. E, have gone well. Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Knights’ scholarship programs.

“Most ticket holders have told us they would just wait for the new date,” Thomas said. “Anyone who wants a refund can request one.”

Previous headliners at the Wilcox Festival have included Donna Douglas (2013), Jerry Mathers (2014), Sandy Duncan (2015), Dawn Wells (2016), Erik Estrada (2017), Loretta Swit (2018) and George Wendt (2019).
