To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management is offering free PPE (personal protective equipment) kits at 10 locations. The kits include 50 disposable masks and an 8-ounce bottle of hand sanitizer.
Warren Robinson, director of the Emergency Management office, said today (Nov. 18) that 43,000 kits are available, but more could be purchased if they are needed.
“If we see that desire out there, we will work to meet that demand,” Robinson said.
He said the kits cost $408,070, and the office used CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act funding to buy them. He said each kit cost about $9.49.
The Emergency Management offices suggests residents call a location to make sure kits are available before showing up there.
