Festus Elementary School student Maksim Brown got a big birthday surprise this year. His mother, Aimee Stabenow, organized a drive-by parade to mark his sixth birthday, which was April 29.
The parade was on May 2 and included a Festus Police car, which delighted Maksim, who adores police officers, his mom said.
“He’s always loved the police,” Stabenow said. “I don’t know how it started, but he thinks he’s a police officer already. He talks to police officers when he sees them. He watches police movies. He says he wants to help people.”
The parade started at Festus Elementary and proceeded to Rose Lane in Festus near Stabenow’s home, where she had Maksim in place to watch.
“We gave him a kiddie police car for his birthday and he sat in it to watch the parade,” Stabenow said.
She said about 20 vehicles took part of the parade.
“We had friends and family driving cars in the parade, as well as Festus Police Officer Josh Rodriguez, who’s a Festus School District SRO (school resource officer),” Stabenow said. “It was the best birthday ever for Maksim!”
The youngster said he appreciated the parade.
“Yes, I enjoyed it,” he said. “I want to be a policeman.”
