Libraries in Jefferson County are bringing back services, in varying degrees, as stay-at-home restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic are eased.

The De Soto Public Library is going to open its doors Monday, with restrictions, and other libraries in the county will begin offering curbside service.

De Soto Library

The De Soto Public Library, 712 S. Main St., began offering curbside service May 18, and on Monday (June 1) the library will open its doors to the public on a limited basis.

“We will allow limited access of up to 30 at a time,” said Janice Butcher, librarian assistant. “We’re not doing programming inside yet. Our summer reading program will be offered online”

Those interested in the De Soto Library’s summer reading program may visit the library’s Facebook page or the library’s website at dspl.missouri.org.

Jefferson County Library

On Wednesday (June 3), the Jefferson County Library system will begin offering curbside service at its three locations – the Arnold Branch, 1701 Missouri State Road; the Northwest Branch, 5680 Hwy. PP, in High Ridge; and the Windsor Branch, 7479 Metropolitan Blvd., in Barnhart.

To use the curbside service, patrons are asked to go to the library’s online catalog and place items on hold. The catalog may be accessed through the library’s website at jeffcolib.org, and patrons will need to use their library card number and PIN to place access it. Patrons also may place orders by calling their individual branches 24 hours in advance.

Staff members will notify patrons when their orders are ready for pickup, and then patrons are asked to call their branch from the parking lot for instructions to pick up the items. Items will be held for seven days.

The branch phone numbers are: Arnold, 636-296-2204; Northwest, 636-677-8186; and Windsor, 636-461-1914.

Orders placed through the Missouri Evergreen libraries cooperative system may take longer to arrive, said Pam Klipsch, the library system director.

Festus Library

The Festus Public Library, 400 W. Main St., will begin offering curbside service starting Monday (June 1) as part of the city’s partial reopening, city officials announced.
