Bachelor cartoon

After watching this week’s episode of Eureka native’s Clayton Echard’s season of “The Bachelor,” I have lost a little respect for the star.

Between his wardrobe choices and the way he handled the Shanae situation, Clayton would not be my pick for a perfect date.

Before this episode’s Rose Ceremony, Clayton pulled aside the winning team of women from last week’s tackle football game to hear what Shanae did during the group date. The women said Shanae cursed at them and tossed the trophy into a pond. I remember her tossing it into bushes, but all the women said it was a pond.

Clayton told Shanae she needed to apologize, adding that he was finding it hard to defend her actions to the other girls. I don’t think he should be trying to defend her actions instead he should be sending her home.

Shanae broke out the waterworks and gave an award-winning, fake apology, and then she and Clayton made out, again. The two also were smooching during last week’s episode.

At the end of this week’s episode, we got a peek at the start of Clayton’s two-on-one date with Shanae and Genevieve, and I believe Clayton will make a boneheaded decision and send Genevieve home next week.

Clayton’s poor clothing choice was a huge distraction during his date with Serene. The man wore a sweater with a suit jacket when the two shared a romantic dinner.

We already saw Clayton wear a hoodie under a suit jacket, and now this sweater-jacket combo has me wondering if he owns a button-down shirt. Seriously, I refused a second date with a guy I went out with in college after he showed up for our first date wearing a hoodie.

Men, listen to me, fashion matters. Please make at least the minimum effort and wear a collared-shirt on a date.

Anyway, before dinner – which Serene showed up for in a glamorous black dress – the two went to a pier in Houston and rode carnival rides. During their date, Clayton shared a tidbit about growing up in Eureka, telling us he worked at the Fudge Factory at Six Flags St. Louis.

After the date with Serene, Clayton sent Jill, Lyndsey W., and Sierra home during the Rose Ceremony. Serene, Teddi and Rachel were safe from elimination after receiving roses before the ceremony.

Following that ceremony, the group was whisked away to Toronto. In the Canadian city, Clayton and Gabby shared a helicopter ride, played street hockey and enjoyed some local cuisine during a one-on-one date.

The two hit it off during the date, and Gabby received a rose to avoid being eliminated at the next Rose Ceremony.

This week’s group date featured Canadian comedian Russell Peters hosting a roast, which turned into a bash-Shanae event. She wasn’t even part of the group, but that didn’t stop the women from bashing her.

This should be a clear sign to Clayton that it is time for Shanae to go, and I believe the women are losing respect for him, like me, every week she remains on the show.

Susie gambled during her time at the mic, referencing Clayton’s not-so-stellar football career by calling him a benchwarmer. He didn’t seem to mind the dig too much as he ended up making out with Susie during the after party.

Clayton, however, presented Rachel with the group date’s immunity rose, keeping her safe during the next elimination round.

My favorites remain unchanged. They are Marlena, Susie and Teddi. Who are your top three picks? Go vote in our poll and tell us who you want to see as Clayton’s final three.
