Ashlee Mattingly said she is bringing something new to the Twin City area with her Daily Flavors restaurant and grocery store featuring gluten-free and dairy-free foods.
Mattingly, who also has a Daily Flavors shop in Perryville, said she plans to hold a grand opening for the Festus location, 34 E. Main St., on June 1, but in the meantime will hold a few “pop-up openings to work out the kinks.”
She said the eatery menu and the products in the store section will appeal to those looking for more non-processed dining.
“Everything we make is gluten- and dairy-free and void of most other top allergens,” she said. “We also have diabetic-friendly options. We have ‘paleo’ foods from the Earth, not processed.
“We have wraps, Nourish Bowls (rice or quinoa and a protein, like chicken or shrimp, and an array of vegetables and a sauce), smoothies. We have a build-your-own salad option, which you choose your items, like a salad bar, but we put it together. We make raw juices, as well.”
Daily Flavors employees will customize the foods they serve.
“These are all made to order,” she said. “We also offer ready-made meals for single or family options.”
Mattingly said the restaurant will have seating for approximately 20 people. Curbside pickup will be available, too
The grocery side of the business also focuses on natural foods, she said.
“We will have organic and gluten- and dairy-free grocery options,” Mattingly said. “We’ll also offer (vitamin) supplements and other nutritional items, such as Rowe Casa products. They’re a natural company that has alternatives for needs in your daily life, such as sunscreen, cleaning products and hair and facial products.”
Mattingly said she is in the process of hiring employees for the store.
“We’re hiring several people now and will add more later,” she said.
Mattingly, 40, lives in St. Mary.
She is the sole owner of Daily Flavors, but said her daughter, Annalise, 16, helps her with the business.
Mattingly, who at one time lived in the Festus area, said she is familiar with Festus Main Street and wanted to open a store there.
“Festus has always been a dream for a store,” she said. “We lived here a long time. We are excited to be a part of the revitalization of this area and, hopefully, fill a need many people are looking for.”
