It looks like the Gordmans store at the Twin City Mall in Crystal City will close, after all.
The company did not respond to requests for information. However, there are closing signs and price-reduction signs outside the store, 110 Twin City Drive, indicating its one of many shuttering its doors nationwide.
Stage Stores Inc., Gordmans’ parent company, announced earlier this year that it would close its Arnold and Fenton stores but said the Crystal City store would remain open.
On May 10, though, Stage Stores said on its website that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy “as we simultaneously run a sale process for our business or any of our assets and initiate an orderly wind-down of our operations.”
The website post also says, “If we receive a viable bid for the business, we will terminate our wind-down of operations at certain locations.”
When the Crystal City store reopened after a temporary closure because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the closing signs were posted.
The Crystal City store opened in June 2019. The location previously housed a Peebles store.
