De Soto has a new quilting, fabric and craft shop.

Pazderka, who has lived in De Soto for eight years, has always been surrounded by quilters and quilts. However, she didn’t learn how to quilt until two years ago when she started working the long-arm quilting machine at a former quilt shop in the town.

After that quilt shop closed last spring, Pazderka began looking for a building where she could open her own shop and satisfy everyone’s sewing needs, as well as give her family something to do together.

Her mom, Patty Sargent, makes custom quilts and T-shirt quilts to sell at the shop. Her sister, Marni Ziegler, has a workshop in the back to make T-shirts and mugs.

In addition to making quilts, Sew Adventurous sells fabric, notions, yarn, quilts, cross-stitch and embroidery items and diamond dot kits. The shop can special-order embroidery items, Pazderka said.

The shop has two classroom spaces, and Pazderka said she hopes to start offering classes in February.

She’s taking suggestions but plans to teach classes on paper-piecing, binding, basic sewing, quilting, machine embroidery, crocheting and knitting.
