Kirk Biehle is gutting the interior of an old car wash that he intends to convert into Biele Street Pub and Liquors, 1100 Shapiro Drive, Festus.

Kirk Biehle has started to transform an old car wash building at 1100 Shapiro Drive in Festus into a space for his new business, Biele Street Pub and Liquors.

He used to operate a Biele Street Pub on Festus Main Street years ago.

While the pub is named after him, he drops the letter “h” for the business.

Biehle, 48, of Festus said he and his wife, Cerissa, along with their two daughters, own the business as 4Bs Entertainment LLC.

“We used to be at 42 E. Main St.,” he said. “We closed that in 2012. We just decided to get back into it.”

The new Biele Street Pub and Liquors will offer package liquor on one side of the building and a bar on the other.

“We’re hoping to have the bar side open by Thanksgiving and the package liquor side open by mid-December,” Biehle said. “In the spring, we’ll put out a patio.”

Biehle said he intends to have live music on the weekends on the patio.

He said he rents the building and currently is renovating it to meet his needs.

“I’m basically gutting it right now,” he said Oct. 11. “The car wash closed a long time ago. It’s going to be a unique building.”

The Festus City Council voted unanimously Oct. 10 to approve Biehle’s request for a liquor license.

Biehle said he intends for the business to offer something unique to the area.

“We’re looking to be a little different from what’s out there and bring quality spirits to the area,” he said. “We plan on doing cocktail classes – wine, bourbon and tequila tasting. Our focus will be tequila, bourbon and whiskey.”

He said the pub and liquor store will hire some employees, but he doesn’t know how many yet.

Biehle said the bar will not have its own kitchen, but people will be able to order food in from nearby restaurants.

“There’s no kitchen, but we’re partnering with Ruby Tuesday (next door at 1120 Shapiro Drive) and with other restaurants to have their food here,” he said.

Biehle said he has tentatively set the hours for the bar side of the business at 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays through Sundays, with the package liquor hours tentatively set for 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
