Do you have your popcorn ready? Maybe, even a glass of rose? Well, if not, this is your reminder to get ready because the first episode of Eureka native Clayton Echard’s season of “The Bachelor” airs Jan. 3 on ABC (KDNL Channel 30 in the St. Louis area).
I have been an on-and-off of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” fan for many years. I remember watching the show with my sisters in 2014 and thinking Juan Pablo Galavis was so cute before we found out he was just a jerk with a nice body. I got hooked on the show again in quarantine. (Who else was disappointed to see Matt pick Rachael?)
I am especially excited for the upcoming season because we get to watch someone from our hometown, maybe, perhaps, find love.
I am also excited because I know I will be watching with the Eureka community. After every episode, I will be writing a recap and sharing my thoughts. Don’t worry I won’t hold back.
I invite you after every episode to read my musings in the Eureka Leader or at myleaderpaper.com. I also invite you to vote for the woman whom you think Clayton will pick in the end.
We will have a poll on our website after every episode so we can keep track of Eureka’s favorite to win Clayton’s heart.
Speaking of women, I am very excited about the cast list. This season we have Cassidy, Claire, Daria, Eliza, Elizabeth, Ency, Gabby, Genevieve, Hailey, Hunter, Ivana, Jane, Jill, Kate, Kira, Lindsay D., Lyndsey W., Mara, Marlena, Melina, Rachel, Rianna, Salley, Samantha, Sarah, Serene, Shanae, Sierra, Susie, Teddi and Tessa.
One thing I noticed immediately about the cast list was there are no women from Missouri. The second thing I always notice is the job titles; this has always been my favorite thing on the first episode. We have the typical jobs represented.
Teddi is a surgical unit nurse, Kate is a real estate agent, Genevieve is a bartender, Hunter is a human resources specialist, Gabby is an ICU nurse and Ency is a sales manager.
Then there are always the uncommon jobs.
Ivana is a bar mitzvah dancer. I had no idea that was a profession, but it sounds like fun.
There is always one woman’s job title that is not really a job. In this cast, Salley fits the bill. Her job is listed as “previously engaged.” That is a job title I would never put on a business card, but to each his or her own.
So now, I am asking you to judge a book by its cover, go to the cast list, look at Clayton’s potential love matches and vote in our poll. Who do you think will be Clayton’s final three?
Sure, you can just Google and read the rumors on who will be in his final three, but no cheating. This isn’t about being right, it is about who you think is Clayton’s perfect match.
My guesses for the final three, based on just looking at the scant biography info provided, are Rianna, Susie and Marlene.
