Katelyn Mary Skaggs
The first episode of Clayton Echard’s season of “The Bachelor” did not disappoint.
There were so many references to Eureka and the St. Louis area, as well as a couple of make-out sessions and a snake.
I was so excited to see the Gateway Arch on screen, but my excitement grew when I saw Clayton standing on the Eureka High School football field and the welcome sign to the city.
How thrilling to be following someone from our hometown on his journey to possibly find love. By the way, this is the point you should stop reading if you do not want spoilers.
Clayton made it clear right off the bat that he is looking for someone to have kids with, and I hope he finds the perfect match.
In the first episode, we got to meet all of Clayton’s potential love matches. My award for best entrance of the night goes to Hunter, who brought a snake and wore it around her neck most of the night. I give Clayton a lot of points for bravery on that one. I would have run the other way.
Other crazy entrances included:
■ Elizabeth, who had a whip.
■ Jane, who arrived in a vintage car.
■ Kate, who pulled two shot bottles from her dress.
■ Ivana, who did not say a single thing to Clayton.
■ Kira, who arrived in just a white coat with red undergarments.
■ Samantha, who rolled up in a bubble bath.
One of the women didn’t get to make a first impression. Salley, who, if you recall, listed her job title as “previously engaged,” exited before the extravaganza really got rolling.
She decided to talk with Clayton before the first impressions to share how emotional she was because her wedding day had been scheduled during the first weekend of filming. She and Clayton looked like they had a connection and he even offered her the first rose, but she sadly rejected him and went home.
Of course, the first villain of the season was Claire, who decided she did not like Clayton at all and was very outspoken about it. She even told some of the other girls she “hated” him and then told Clayton she didn’t say that.
I was happy to see Clayton handle the situation by quickly sending her home.
I liked the connection between Rachel and Clayton, but the strongest connection so far clearly is with Teddi.
Clayton and Teddi made out twice, and he gave her the first impression rose.
Other girls who were sent home included Daria, Hailey, Ivana, Jane, Lindsay D., Rianna and Samantha.
One prediction I am going to make is that this season will be overflowing with tears. The preview for the rest of the season was mostly people crying, including Clayton.

prediction, go to our poll at
