A man and a woman from High Ridge and a House Springs man were hurt in a four-vehicle accident that happened about 5 p.m. Saturday (May 12) on Hwy. 30 at High Ridge Boulevard in High Ridge, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Gary W. Brueggeman, 57, of House Springs was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata on High Ridge Boulevard and was in the left turn lane to enter westbound Hwy. 30, where three other vehicles were traveling west, approaching High Ridge Boulevard, the patrol reported.

Danny L. Abernathy, 56, of High Ridge was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado in Lane 1 of westbound Hwy. 30, and a 2003 Suzuki Aerio was following behind the pickup. In addition, a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling in Lane 2 next to the pickup.

When the Sonata traveled through the intersection to enter westbound Hwy. 30, the pickup began to slow and then started sliding, before striking the right side of the Sonata, the report said.

Then, both the Sonata and pickup began to spin clockwise and the Sonata hit a concrete curb and then spun counterclockwise, coming to rest partly off the road, according to the report.

The Aerio and PT Cruiser began to slow and then slid before the right side of the Aerio struck the left side of the PT Cruiser and then both those cars slid and struck the right side of the pickup, the report said.

Jeffrey A. Miller, 30, of St. Louis was driving the Aerio, and Eric J. Franz, 27, of Dittmer was driving the PT Cruiser, according to the report.

Brueggeman and Abernathy were hurt, as was a passenger in Abernathy’s pickup – Della M. Abernathy, 51, of High Ridge.

The three were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County, where they were treated and released.

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
