Amy N. “Nikki” Bruenger, 18, formerly of House Springs, was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 7:40 p.m. Feb. 24 on northbound Hwy. 141 just north of Cecos Lane west of Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
A passenger, Gregory W. Wisely, 16, of Fenton was injured, the patrol reported.
Bruenger was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer north on Hwy. 141 and failed to negotiate a curve when her vehicle ran off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and then ran off the left side of the road. The vehicle overturned and ejected Bruenger, the patrol reported.
She was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County, where she was pronounced dead at 10:46 p.m., according to the report.
Wisely received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center, where he was hospitalized and then discharged on Feb. 26.
Bruenger, who attended Pacific and Mehlville high schools, recently moved to an apartment in south St. Louis County, said her brother, Edward Bruenger Jr. He said she worked at the McDonald’s restaurant in south St. Louis County and was considering going into the military.
Bruenger and Wisely were not wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
