Chain reaction accident on Friday injures Arnold man, 43

An Arnold man was injured Friday afternoon (June 22) in a six-vehicle accident on eastbound Hwy. 30 west of Local Hillsboro Road in Cedar Hill, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Matthew E. Dishner, 43, received moderate injuries, the patrol said, when his 2008 Ford Escape was stopped at a traffic light and was struck from behind by a 2005 Dodge Ram driven by Steven D. Kell, 61, of Eureka.

Also stopped at the light and involved in the chain reaction accident were Harold R. Underwood, 68, of Robertsville, driving a 2007 Chevrolet 1500; John D. Moore, 53, of St. Clair, driving a 2000 Ford Ranger; Brandon P. Powell, 20, of Dittmer, driving a 1993 Ford Ranger; and the driver of an unidentified vehicle that left the scene, the patrol reported.

Injuries were reported only for Dishner, who was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis County by Big River Ambulance, the report said. A representative of the hospital said Saturday that Dishner had been treated and released.

Everyone listed was reported as using a seat belt.

The patrol said the accident occurred at 12:55 p.m. when Kell’s eastbound vehicle failed to yield and struck the rear of Dishner’s vehicle. The impact caused the front of Dishner’s vehicle to strike the rear of Underwood’s vehicle and then to carom into Powell’s vehicle in the adjacent lane. Dishner’s vehicle then hit Underwood’s again and then Underwood’s vehicle struck the rear of Moore’s vehicle, the patrol said. Moore’s vehicle then hit the vehicle that drove away.
