Jerri Birsinger of Arnold and her brother, Gary Mills, submitted photos of their father, Thomas “Sonny” Mills of Arnold, who served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
“I was hoping you might include our dad in your Veterans Tribute this year,” she said. “We don’t have any specific story to share. Dad has been quiet about his time in the service over the years.”
Thomas “Sonny” Mills grew up in Lesterville and was stationed in Xuan Loc, Vietnam, from 1965 to 1967 with the C Battery of the 35th Artillery in the 54th Artillery Group. His rank was Spc. 4 and his job was as a wheeled vehicle mechanic.
He has lived in Arnold for 45 years and has a son, daughter and two grandchildren, Nik and Alex Birsinger.
