The Studio a well-kept fitness secret in Eureka

The Studio, which offers yoga and Pilates classes, can be found on the second floor above Comprehensive Chiropractic Sports Performance, owner Maureen Turney said.

“We’re the best kept secret,” Turney said.

Turney said although many people aren’t aware her business is at 113 W. Fifth St. in Eureka, lately the address has not been important as she is offering virtual classes in the middle of the pandemic.

In March, she said, she posted Facebook Live videos to stay connected with clients.

“Through Facebook Live videos, we offered classes from our home to yours,” she said. “We were able to check on each other through the comments, offer the movement sequences that give health and energy to our bodies, and make a connection even though we were unable to be there in person.”

She said she later started offering Zoom classes, which allowed better visibility and feedback options.

Turney said she is now offering in-person classes again, but Zoom remains an option for those who don’t want to visit in-person.

She said the business started in 2003 in a back room of Comprehensive Chiropractic Sports Performance and in 2008 a second story was added to the building, which allowed Turney to create a fully equipped studio.

Turney said classes range from $12 to $20, but clients can take unlimited classes for $120 per month.

“We do group classes, but we also do private lessons and small duets or trios,” she said.

She said private lessons and trio classes have lots of space to distance while being in the same room.

Turney said the entrance to The Studio is at the back of the building.

“The red stair rail leads right to our door,” she said.
