Forward, indeed: Podiatrist expands services, opens new office
Podiatrist Dr. Franklin Harry of Best Foot Forward in Festus is taking a little different approach to the pandemic lockdown these days.
“I am expanding! I am super excited,” he said. “Yes, I know we’re in the midst of a crisis, with no end in immediate sight. But I know bright days are coming again, and I want to be prepared.”
In addition to his Festus office at 1455 Hwy. 61, across from Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Harry recently opened an office in Crestwood and is looking to add another doctor to his practice.
“I’m still in the hiring process, still interviewing,” he said. “It’s about trying to find that perfect fit.”
With the addition of another doctor, Harry plans to double availability at the Festus office.
“Right now, I’m there on Thursdays, but we’ll be adding another day, probably Tuesday or Wednesday,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”
The office hours will remain 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“That allows people to have early morning spots, if that’s what best suits their schedule,” he said. “But then also people have that late afternoon window. So there are options.”
Harry said he has been seeing more patients for vascular conditions lately.
“I try to keep in mind that I am treating the whole person,” he said. “Checking the toes and feet, the end points in the circulatory system, can give good clues about what’s happening more centrally in the body, like with the heart.”
He also said communication is key.
“I think it’s important to recognize nuances,” he said. “You want to be able to communicate solutions in a way that people are going to be receptive. You have to know what local resources are and how to optimize them.”
