De Soto High and Northwest High are hosting girls wrestling districts Friday and Saturday.
The Class 1 District 1 meet is at De Soto, and includes the Jefferson County Activities Association champion Dragons, Festus High, Herculaneum High, Hillsboro High, St. Pius X High and Windsor High. The Class 2 District 1 meet at Northwest includes the Lions, Fox and Suburban Conference Yellow pool winner Seckman.
The top four finishers from each of the 14 weight classes qualify for the state championships at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Class 1 competes on Feb. 25-26 and Class 2 is held Feb. 27-28. After concluding its eighth season as a sport in Missouri, girls wrestling will be divided into three classes and run a separate state tournament from the boys at the University of Missouri.
