In May, private and public member schools of the Missouri State High School Activities Association voted in favor of eliminating the state’s multiplier rule for private schools.
Starting the 2020-2021 school year, teams that participate in private schools will be classified by a six-year block of postseason success. Points will awarded based on district championships, advancing to the final four and winning state titles. Some private schools could move up as many as two classes.
For a look at the specifics of this effort to provide “competitive equity” between private and public schools, read the July 3 issue of the Leader.
