Miranda Richardson
The senior improved to 12-0 this season after pinning all four opponents to win the 140-pound championship at the Fort Zumwalt East Tournament on Dec. 19. A Class 2 state qualifier at 130 last season, Richardson pinned Festus senior Dani Gullet in 37 seconds in the FZE final. Gullet was third in the state at 140 in Class 1 last season.
Tanner Duncan
A returning first team all-JCAA small-schools selection, Duncan, a senior guard, went over 1,000 career points when the Blackcats beat visiting Kingston High 82-55 Dec. 16. Duncan took a pass on the wing from teammate Jackson LaPlante, dribbled to the top of the arc, cut through the paint and made a left-handed layup on the play to reach the milestone. Duncan finished with 28 points and is averaging 22 points per game. Last spring, Duncan was selected as the JCAA small-schools baseball player of the year.
