The junior improved to 42-8 this season in winning the 150-pound championship at the Class 3 District 1 meet Feb. 17 at Farmington. His victory helped the Owls finish third in the team standings with 143.5 points. After winning by tech fall in his first match, Patterson defeated Farmington senior Zach Dennis 4-1 in the semifinals; Dennis had eliminated Patterson at state last year. In the district final against Rockwood Summit senior Minko Brown, Patterson won a 6-3 decision with a takedown in the third period.
