Trace Treiber, Fox wrestling
The junior won all three of his matches at 113 pounds to capture the championship at the Fred Ross Invitational at Lafayette High on Jan. 10. Treiber pinned his first opponent in 43 seconds and beat top-seeded Centralia junior Wyatt Adkisson in a 7-3 decision in the semifinals. In the 113 final, Treiber beat Hannibal sophomore Carter King with a 22-7 tech fall at 4:19. King was a Class 3 state qualifier last season.
Dawson Litterall, Cody Shaver, St. Pius X wrestling
After playing in the Class 2 Show-Me Bowl in December for the school’s football team, the two juniors won their weight classes at the Fred Ross Invitational at Lafayette High on Jan. 10 and are both unbeaten so far this season. Litterall pinned his first two opponents at 165 pounds in under a minute, won by tech fall over Nixa junior Tyler Gibson in the semifinals and won by injury default at 1:58 of the final when Centralia junior Louis Suddarth couldn’t continue. The county’s first 3,000-yard rusher in football, Shaver pinned all four opponents at 190 for the title, including Fox junior Cole Theobald in 38 seconds in the final.
