The first girls wrestling championships will be held at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia on Feb. 14-16.
In a bit of a controversial decision before the season started, the Missouri State High School Activities Association ruled that only the top three wrestlers from each of the four districts would reach the state tournament. On the boys side, the top four from each weight class earn the right to wrestle at state.
Northwest finished in second place to powerful Lafayette at the Class 1 District 1 tournament in St. Clair on Saturday.
