A third grader at Athena Elementary School in De Soto, Carnes played for Team Missouri, which won the AAA State Wars Roller Hockey National Championships in Fort Wayne last month. Team Missouri was undefeated at the championships, beating Team California 4-2 in the final. Carnes also plays roller hockey for the Dangle Pigeons and ice hockey for Hockey Club of St. Louis.
