The sophomore from Troy Buchanan High was a dual threat in the circle and at the plate for the Vikings, who swept Missouri Baptist JV and Spoon River College from Canton, Ill., in doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday in Hillsboro. Jefferson College improved to 10-3, shutting out Spoon River 17-0 in the two Sunday contests. Over the four games, Nixon hit three home runs, drove in nine runs, hit .500 (seven for 14) and pitched 11 innings, striking out 17 batters.
