The senior won the 155-pound championship at the Fourth Annual Parkview Lady Vikings Classic in Springfield on Dec. 28. With 10 seconds left in the final, Patrick (8-1) pinned McDonald County junior Stacy Lopez-Apolinar. Windsor finished seventh with 70.5 points. Patrick placed third at 155 at the Union Tournament on Dec. 9 after pinning Eureka’s Florida Niyokusenga in the third period. Patrick missed last season’s district tournament with a knee injury.
“After missing the end of the season last year, Maddie has come back very strong so far this season,” Windsor girls head coach Ryan Nuspl said. “She spent a lot of time in the weight room to get her muscle strength back so she can be ready for her final season. She has been wrestling tough, and if she continues on this track, I have no doubt she will meet her goal of reaching state this year.”
