MRV Banks wants to prepare future homeowners for success by providing a wide range of loan options for the community.

“As is the case in most years, the winter months have slowed up the housing market a little bit,” said Brad Korn, consumer lender and bank center manager. “Sellers are taking a little longer to sell their homes, and buyers can be a little more selective. We expect the market to pick back up in the spring.”

MRV Banks offers many types of loan options such as conventional, Federal Housing Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Veterans Affairs, bridge and adjustable rate mortgages.

“Saving a large down payment can be hard. Thankfully, we have excellent government back loan products, such as USDA and FHA, that allow a smaller down payment,” said Megan Cattoor, MRV Banks AVP/director of marketing and public relations. “These products allow people to be in the housing market without saving those large sums of cash."

Community banks can be essential to a potential homeowner due to their understanding of neighborhood-specific market nuances.

“We want to meet the customer and sit down to talk with them,” said Bill Seek, business development officer and bank vice president.

Regarding a potential homeowner’s financial readiness, pre-qualification is very important.

“If you think you’re going to buy in the spring, it would behoove you to perhaps give us a call and let us go ahead and see what we can do to make sure you qualify,” he said.

MRV Banks began in Ste. Genevieve and has expanded with locations in Festus, St. Charles and Cape Girardeau.
