Winford Dale “Wimpy” Wright, 70, of Festus died April 7, 2021 at his home. Mr. Wright was a retired bag house operator at the former St. Joe Lead Co. smelter in Herculaneum. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Born July 2, 1950, in Festus, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Celia (Eaves) Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Elizabeth (Partney) Wright; three sons: Tommy (Joy) Wright of Kansas City, Timothy Wright of Festus and Aaron (Brandon) Wright of Festus; two brothers: Luther (Diane) Wright of Festus and Claude (Shelia) Wright of Festus; four sisters: Katherine (Bob) Benwell of Hillsboro, Rose (Randy) Propst of Greenfield, Naomi Thompson of Festus and Vivian (Sam) James of Bloomsdale; four grandchildren: Andrew, Ethan, Tommy (Rocel) and Alanna (Charlie); and two great-grandchildren: Rachelle and Charlie.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Carl Wright.

Funeral services were held April 10 at New Hope Fellowship Church, High Ridge, officiated by Pastor Dan Ross. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus.
