William Raymond Chapman, 74, of Imperial died March 29, 2017 at St. Clare Health Center in Fenton. Mr. Chapman was a manager for 27 years at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home. After retiring, he worked for five years at Mahn Funeral Home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Arnold Eagles, Arnold Elks, Knights of Columbus of Arnold and the First Baptist Church of Arnold. He enjoyed golf, spending time at Applebee’s, cooking, reading the newspaper and was an avid Cardinals fan. Born May 26, 1942, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Alvera Agnes (Bressler) and Charles Richard Chapman Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Ruth Alice (Sprous) Chapman of Imperial; a son: James Donovan (Cheryl) Chapman of Fenton; three daughters: Pamela Jean Hesford of Millington, Tenn., Kimberly Sue (Jason) Thomas of St. Louis and Melissa Kaye (Christopher) Phillips of Imperial; three brothers: Charles Chapman II, Robert Chapman and Harold Chapman; five sisters: Patricia Holt, Alice Suiter, Judith Jackson, Charlene Wougmon and Arlene Parton; 10 grandchildren: Mallory, Jesse, Brook, Kayla, Jacob, Becki, Abbigail, Jason Jr., Alexandra and Eric; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: Raymond Lee Chapman; a daughter: Melinda Faye Chapman; a brother: Russell Chapman; and a sister: Mary Ellen Northcutt.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, at the funeral home, officiated by Brother Gerald Davidson. Burial is in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart.
