Willard Roosevelt Bass, 79, of De Soto died Oct. 23, 2017, at the Villas in De Soto. Mr. Bass was retired from the Ford Motor Assembly plant in Hazelwood and was a member of the U.A.W. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing and playing checkers. Born Sept. 28, 1938, in Bono, Ark., he was the son of the late Jess and Alma M. (Finley) Bass.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years: Judith Ann “Judy” (Guess) Bass, whom he married on July 2, 1994; two sons: Tim Bass of De Soto and Willard Roy Bass of De Soto; two stepsons: Bryan Harrison of De Soto and James Harrison of Hillsboro; and three grandchildren: Zachary Ryan Harrison, Cody Wade Harrison and Carter Fry Harrison.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Darlene Paschel; and three brothers: Jerry, David and Michael Bass.
Visitation is at 11 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Scott Minx. Burial is in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
