Virginia M. “Penny” Franz, 68, of Ste. Genevieve County died Jan. 25, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Franz was born Feb. 11, 1952, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Bertha Mildred (Bainter) and Elmer Schaper.
She is survived by her husband: Gerald Franz; a son: William Schaper of Arnold; two daughters: Denise Pind of Imperial and Michelle (Robie) Jakoubek of Festus; three sisters: Carolyn McDaniel of Festus, Linda Dunn of Barnhart and Joan (Joseph) Roach of Hillsboro; two brothers: Earl Schaper of Festus and Elmer (the late Della) Schaper Jr. of Imperial; nine grandchildren: Nicole Schneider, Justin Schaper, Dylan Schaper, Amber Adams, Jacob Pind, Dakota Jakoubek, Dawson Jakoubek, Dayton Jakoubek and Tallia Schaper; six great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Clayton P., Clayton S., Camden, Damian and Destiny; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Eileen Frances and Bertha Long; and a brother: Alfred “Butch” Schaper.
Funeral services were private. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
