Sharon Sue Anderson, 76, of Festus died May 21, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Anderson worked as a proofreader and advertising salesperson for Leader Publications in Festus and was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Twin City Optimist Club, and served on the board of directors of the Jefferson County Family YMCA in Festus. She was an avid reader and cherished spending time with family and friends. Born Aug. 24, 1941, in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Minerva (Schroeder) and Warren Alcorn.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years: James Anderson; two daughters: Robynne (Jim) Halbrook of Bonne Terre and Courtney (Scott) Wagner of Harrogate, UK; a brother: Clayton (Lynda) Alcorn of Sedalia; a sister: Terri Ann Howard of Sedalia; seven grandchildren: Nick, Emily, Tristen, Kristina, BJ, Meghan and Austin; and three great-grandchildren: Logan, Kason and Asher.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at First United Methodist Church, 113 Grand Ave., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Tish Green and Pastor Jack King. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry at First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
