Ruth M. (Sanders) Brooks, 70, of Carmi, Ill., formerly of De Soto, died Feb. 28, 2022. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in Ware. Born Dec. 25, 1951, in Centralia, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Kermit and Nadine (Peters) Sanders. She was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Brooks.
She is survived by a daughter: Brooke Williams Pennington of Peoria, Ill.; two sons: Brock Adam Atchison of Carmi, Ill., and James Sanders of Mount Vernon, Ill; two brothers: Kermit “Butch” Sanders of Tennessee and Carl Sanders of Illinois; two grandchildren: Tyler Williams of Mount Vernon, Ill., and Darryon Williams of Hillsboro; two step-grandchildren: Dennis (Devon) Culey and Danielle (Caleb) John, both of Hillsboro; six great-grandchildren: Kyecen Flowers and Kaelynn, Korie Leo, Kylie Marie, Kingston and Kamdon Williams.
She was preceded in death by a son: Korie Williams; two brothers: Ronnie Sanders and Larry Sanders; and her dog: Chaos.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, 11441 Ware Church Road, in Ware. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
