Patricia K. Byrd, 77, of Bloomsdale died Dec. 13, 2016, at St. Louis University Hospital. Louis. Mrs. Byrd was the office manager for Dr. Jitentra Patel in St. Louis. She was also an aquatic instructor at the Jefferson County Family YMCA in Festus and was known as “Birdie the Clown” when doing clown ministry work. She was the pastor at Community of Christ Church in Bismarck. She was known as “Meme” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born Oct. 13, 1939, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late John J. Rosner and Katherine (Cook) Zielinski.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert J. Byrd.
She is survived by six daughters: Teresa (Rick) Slough of Bloomsdale, Reba (David) Hogenmiller of Ste. Genevieve, Diane (Gary) Wittu of Bloomsdale, Sarah (Paul) Nation of Ste. Genevieve, Tonya (Terry) Grau of Bloomsdale and Sonya Bieller of Bloomsdale; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Sue Schroeder; and two brothers: John Edward Simmons and John Joseph “Jackie” Rosner.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 and 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Basler Funeral Home, 685 Center Drive, Ste. Genevieve. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home, with Sid Faulker, Miriam Counts and Lana Gilbert officiating. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Lawrenceton. Memorials may be made to Camp Woodland Hills. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
