Pastor Shirley Gowen, 86, De Soto

Pastor Shirley Gowen, 86, of De Soto died Dec. 3, 2019, at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. Mrs. Gowen was the pastor of Agape Faith Church in Valles Mines. She loved sharing the word of God with people, and she was never without her Bibles. She was known for her faith, honor and compassion. Born Aug. 5, 1933, in Valles Mines, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Clara (Douglas) Moses.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Pastor Glenn Gowen.

She is survived by four children: Brenda Boyer, Carol (Mel) Spreckelmeyer, Judy (John) Johnston and Terry Gowen; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Maxine (Donnie) Ribble; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law; and many other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters; four brothers; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Agape Faith Church, 3255 Hwy. V, in Valles Mines. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the church, officiated by pastors Mel Spreckelmeyer and John Johnston. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Agape Love in Action. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Homes.
